She was looking for an opportunity to expand her expertise, challenge herself in a new area of business, and continue growing her career. After years in traditional financial planning and analysis roles within Siemens, SGT offered something different: the opportunity to learn government contracting while gaining hands-on experience in project controlling and the financial operations that support complex federal programs.
"What initially drew me was the opportunity to learn a new area of business," Zarrina says. "I was excited to take on a new challenge and expand my professional experience beyond the traditional Financial Planning & Analysis roles I had held previously."
Since joining SGT, Zarrina has embraced opportunities to broaden her knowledge and contribute across the business. Early in her tenure, she became involved in cloud budget management, strengthening her understanding of financial oversight while working closely with affiliate partners. She later helped improve financial reporting by developing a cash flow forecasting model that increased forecast accuracy and provided greater visibility into balance sheet activities.
Today, she focuses on enhancing software forecasting, strengthening relationships with affiliate partners, and improving visibility into future business opportunities.
"Whether through financial planning, process improvements, or supporting the software business, my goal is to help the organization operate efficiently, make informed decisions, and continue delivering value to our customers."
While much of her work happens behind the scenes, its impact reaches across the organization. Through budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and financial analysis, Zarrina helps provide the insight leaders need to manage resources effectively and plan for future growth. She also helps ensure software orders move efficiently through the business while maintaining the financial controls that support successful customer delivery.
One of the aspects of SGT that has had the greatest impact on her experience has been its culture of collaboration. Entering a new area of business came with a steep learning curve, but she quickly discovered a workplace where colleagues were approachable, supportive, and always willing to share their knowledge.
"I never felt hesitant to reach out to others for guidance or ask questions," she reflects. "Regardless of role or level within the organization, people were always willing to help me better understand different aspects of the business."
Looking ahead, Zarrina is excited by the opportunities digitalization will bring to the organization. She is particularly interested in advancing reporting capabilities through tools like Power BI, helping automate manual processes while making data more accessible and actionable across the business.
"I'm excited about helping drive improvements that make our processes more efficient and reporting more valuable," she says. "The more we can automate routine work and provide better visibility into data, the more time we can spend making informed decisions that support the business."
